Summary: A Movie for the Entire Family
Comment: This exicting family tale of adventure and romance, based on Natalie Babbitt's haunting novel, tells the story of young Geneva Reade who is sent to care for her invalid grandmother, and quickly becomes immersed in a bizarre and deadly game.

For 30 years, Geneva Reade's grandmother has searched the isolated beaches of Nantucket, patiently waiting for her long-departed husband to send her a message from the bottom of the sea. When the widow breaks her ankle and can no longer continue her vigil, she sends for her granddaughter. The sea and its unfathomable myusteries are new to Geneva, yet she is drawn to them by some unidentifable force.

She is swept up in an eerie and seemingly mad game between her grandmother, a ghostly presence and the deep, dark sea. In a tumulous climax, Geneva learns the secret to this bizarre "game" and the reality of her grandmother's desperate search.
