Anti freeze is sealed inside the handle to make serving even the hardest ice cream easy. Ice cream won't stick to the scoop. Aluminum. Not dishwasher safe due to anti freeze.

Comment: For people with any hand, or extremity disability, this is the end of fighting with hard ice cream! I have rheumatoid arthritis and thought I would give this a try and I was amazed! It slices through ice cream like it was whipped cream. No more sore hands for this ice cream-a-holic!

Comment: Makes a weird noise if you shake it, the handle got some gel material to conduct heat...which I am not sure if that really helps. But the teflon(?) coating on this scooper does an excellent job at scooping out ice cream and a quick rinse to clean.

Comment: Simple put, this is THE best Ice Cream Scoop at any price. Cuts through solidly frozen ice cream like a "hot knife through butter." I bought this ice cream scoop for my mother who has chronic pain in her wrists, and she had no trouble at all scooping out solidly frozen ice cream.
