X-Men Legends is the first role-player game that stars the world-famous superhero team known as the X-Men. Earth is facing total destruction at the hands of Magneto, and you'll lead a team of mutant heroes to stop him. Working together, the X-Men will use their unique skills to combat evil and determine the fate of mankind. Face each battle with teamwork and courage, because failure here means the end of the world. Also includes skirmish mode for head-to-head combat

Customer Rating: Summary: A great idea but lackluster execution Comment: X-Men Legends began with a great concept - take the most popular X-Men and let a group of up to 4 friends pick their favorites and go on a smashfest while engaging them in a comic-esque story. The concept was a good one, and as far as smashfests go, it's pretty fun. Unfortunately, a lot of little things combine to make the game frustrating.
First off, the ally AI sucks - several times a game your ally will walk off a cliff. In-game pauses don't actually pause the game sometimes, like if you're flying over a crevice - which expends energy - and the game brings up a dialogue box, your character continues to spend energy, and if they run out ... well, I hope you saved your game. Also, character levels max out at 45 (why not 99? ask the developers), which would be fine if 45 points would max out your skills ... but they don't. And since bonus skill points are rare - only one that I've come across without help - it's impossible to completely max out anyone. And since each character only has three skills - only two attacks and a boost - in addition to attribute bonuses and the super attack (which you have to actually unlock), people who like to train their characters will be sorely disappointed. Also, some of the boss fights get way too busy on screen - the one against Magneto is particularly bad, and it's hard to keep track of who you're actually beating up.
On the plus side, I love the levels in this game - with one exception they're all unique and unrepetitive (with one exception, but there's a good reason for it). While the staples like Cyclops and Wolverine are there, I love the inclusion of some lesser-known characters like Magma, who is the central character in the story and is awesome once she's playable.
Overall, XML laid a good framework for the Marvel franchise, but the game is clearly a beta test. XML II and Marvel: Ultimate Alliance fully realized the vision, and players will most likely want to steer clear of this title and go for one of those instead.
Customer Rating: Summary: My son loves it Comment: I got this for my son for christmas. He loves wolverine so he plays it all the time.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Game! I recommened this game! Comment: This is a fantastic game! The graphics are comic-book like and the story is amazing. If you are a X-Men fan you should really get this game. You can explore the mansion, throw bad guys off buildings, and trip giant robots. It is a fun game and it really gets you stuck on it. The peoples powers are amazing- Use storm to throw bad guys in a tornado! There are many ways to kill guys like cornering them and beating them, zapping them, freezing them, punching them, and throwing them
I highly recommend this game!!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Horrible level design, frustrating gameplay, incredibly difficult Comment: I played this game for 4-5 hours with my 8-year old son and it was unbelievably frustrating. I've never played a game before with such horribly designed levels, where you fight your way through hordes of bad guys for 2 hours only to find yourself facing a bridge and the WRONG X-Man character to get across it, so you have to start all over at a long-gone save where that particular character is still alive, and someone manage to keep him/her alive long enough to reach the bridge. The camera view is horrible, so that you can only see about 10 feet in front of your characters. There is no way to heal your most vulnerable characters because there are woefully few health drops. The A.I. controlled X-men characters are so freaking stupid that they'll walk right off a cliff and die, which means you have to constantly switch from your favorite char to one of the idiot A.I. chars to get them in the right place, and they constantly get stuck and are too stupid to jump over little obstacles to keep up with you. This game is fun when it works, which is only really when you're playing solo or 2-player co-op, when you don't have to deal with the stupid A.I. Overally, I became so frustrated and angry while playing this game that I had to shut it off. Only an X-men fan would give this a 5-star rating because the game levels are a confusing mess, the A.I. is stupid, there are no clues for solving puzzles (like crossing damaged bridges), and you have to use a specific X-men character to solve certain parts of the game, with no warning in advance, and that char probably will die before you reach it. Horrible, horrible game. The only game I've played that's worse than this is TMNT for Xbox, and I play about 100 games per year.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love it!! Comment: Finally, at long last, a game worthy of the X-Men title. X-Men Legends is a really fun game with a very intense story. Playing the new student Magma, you learn as you go along through the game as she does in the story. The animation and FMVs are excellent. You have your choice of your favorite mutants, with the exception of some missing.
The voice talents in the game are great. Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Professor Charles Xavier. The voice talent has to be good for this game since there is a lot of talk that you can go through in this game. One of the coolest parts about the game is that you can tour the X-Mansion with free will; this allows you to basically go to any part of the mansion you desire. While walking around, you will bump into other students and famous X-Men. You can talk to them which adds another cool aspect to the game. If you talk to some X-men, you will be able to play a flashback story. Here, the X-Men will be in their classic attire from the comics. These levels don't have to be played, but they add so much more to the overall story.
If you aren't traditionally an RPG fan, you will still find things to love in this game. Whether it is the story, game play or just because you get to play most of your favorite mutants, this game has a lot to offer. The game play is fun and easy to learn, a must play for all X-men fans that have been waiting for a great game. You have found it here.
