Editorial Reviews:

Sanyo's convection oven combines the best of powerful convection cooking, baking and toasting with a stylish, stainless steel design. The convection oven features full-width heaters on top and bottom and twin convection inlets for rapid and even heat distribution. It keeps track of the cooking progress with its 40-minute digital timer and lighted countdown indicators. Use it to cook meat and poultry dishes, bake pies and casseroles, toast up to four slices of bread at once and reheat leftovers. The width of the opening is 10-in. wide - large enough to hold a 10-in. pizza or a 9-in. pie. The panel on front offers one-touch toasting for heating one, two or three-to-four slices of bread for perfect browning every time. It even allows for bread that's frozen. The temperature ranges from 180- to 470-degrees F for precise baking. For easier access to hot baking sheets or pie pans, the oven's rack automatically slides out when the door is opened; remove the oven rack completely for easy cleaning. Included with your Sanyo convection oven is a nonstick oven tray and crumb tray and an English/Spanish instruction manual with recipes.

Summary: Convection Convenience
Comment: This Sanyo convection oven looks great, takes up a minimal amount of space in it's category, yet is practical in its design. I like the appearance of this unit, and the controls are easy to intuit without opening the manual. As others have mentioned, the temperature presets are somewhat curious in their missing the most commonly used heat levels in American baking. I did try to bake a nine inch pie just to test the versatility, and while it worked, best to use your conventional full sized oven. Started a little of the burn mark thing going on on the top of my pie due to proximity to the top element. I will also confirm that my unit runs very quietly.
My only negative is the assembly quality. My front door fell out of the hinge pins due to design tolerances being stretched to the break point limit. It appears that the assembly of my unit required a little banging to get things to fit, and some of the exterior sheet steel shows wrinkle marks. This opened the door hinge gap to the point where the hinge pins don't span wide enough when the door is opened. I had to partially dissassemble my unit and bend metal pieces to collectively reduce the manufacturing tolerance in order to hold the door hinge pins in both sides. I think most consumers would not have the experience to analyze this, and so a return for another unit perhaps would have been required. Someone on the assembly line needs to treat these units as if someone they cared about was goint to buy what they assembled. Without that, you're going to earn a bad reputation for your otherwise very nice appliance.

Summary: Good oven - no broiler function
Comment: We bought the Sanyo oven about a month ago and it has been working fine. My only complaint is that there is no way to use only the top heating element for broiling - all cooking is done with both heating elements. Other than that we are very happy with the product and hope it will last us a long time!

Summary: Not All It's Cracked Up To Be
Comment: This was my wife's and my third toaster oven so we have a fair amount of experience to base our judgement on. We also did a lot of shopping around before buying so we had a pretty good idea what the options were. We eventually settled on this Sanyo based on reviews (mostly) and price (somewhat).

Unfortunately, I have to say this oven really did not live up to its positive reviews. Our biggest complaint was that, due to the design of the oven (it has a slanted rear "ceiling" that cuts into the cooking space significantly), it cannot effectively be used for baking and it toasts VERY unevenly from front to back.

I really love the one touch toast feature and I don't understand why this isn't standard on all toaster ovens but that doesn't compensate for the fact that is is a very poor oven and not a good toaster either.

Summary: A great choice
Comment: I did a lot of research before purchasing this toaster oven. We had a fairly short "must have" list. It had to be small, and digital. My husband did not want a dial timer. I wanted to be able to cook a small pizza. And we wanted toast quickly....in 3 or 4 minutes, not in 6 or 8 minutes. As far as I could determine, this was the only toaster oven that filled all those requirements.
It is relatively small for a convection toaster oven, it's "slightly" digital (in that you just push buttons to operate it), and it makes great toast very quickly. Many reviewers previously have explained how the oven works, so there is no need to duplicate those instructions here. I'll just say that it has really turned out to be exactly what we wanted. We've baked a couple of small pizzas (personal size), we've baked pizza rolls, and we've even baked 2 batches of mini corn muffins. They all baked up perfectly. The only minor mishap to this point involved heating up some dinner rolls....I impatiently pushed the temperature buttons to a higher temp. (in an attempt to hurry up the process...as dinner was ready and guests were waiting, and ended up slightly scorching one side of the rolls. Live and learn....the back of the oven does seem to cook hotter/faster then the front of the oven.
The convection fan is very quiet. I barely hear it. The crumb tray is extremely easy to remove, empty and replace. This unit DOES get hot! I read that in other reviews, so I was expecting it....and it is very true! You want to pull the toaster away from the wall or other things nearby, and be careful not to touch it when in use. It heats up very quicky.

And now, back to the toast. It makes wonderul toast, in 2-3 minutes.

Summary: So far so good!
Comment: I got this toaster oven about a week ago and we had used it just about everyday. It toast nice and fast. It warms left overs fast enough. I haven't cook in it but I am sure it will do fine. While in use, it makes a little fan noise but no big thing. I got tire of the B&D not lasting and not toasting well after a while, will se how this one works after a few months. Got it for $70 here at amazon.
