Spotlight customer reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: Great purchase! Worth it! Comment: After much research, I recently purchased this item @ Amazon. I am very pleased! Light weight, small, and stylish. More importantly, it is VERY functional, easy to use (yes!) and worth the buy! I am an avid exerciser and wanted a new monitor that was accurate, user friendly and small, to assist heart rate monitoring while pregnant. This brand/model lives up to that-and I can change my own battery when needed-unlike the Polar. I have found it to be pretty accurate so far-testing it during a number of activities. This monitor seems to accurately reflect the change in heart rate-both while at rest and while exercising when pregnant (vs. not pregnant), and changes in response to activity level quite readily. Also, it has just enough information/functions, without bogging me down, and displays the information nicely-helpful while trying to read when running. Plus, the watch looks like a watch and can be worn all the time. I am glad I went with the Timex. So far it is living up to the reviews and Timex reputation. It fulfills all that I was looking for in a heart rate monitor and more. Excellent buy for the money!! Customer Rating: Summary: Good heart rate monitor Comment: This is my first heart rate monitor. Very pleased so far. I have a small wrist (approx 5" circumference) and this is the right size. Anything bigger, the face would have wrapped around my wrist. I like the watch so much that I wear it everywhere even if the watch doesn't match my business casual attire. It wasn't difficult to use the features, but I had to read the manual to get my workout 'review'. I knew I had to do some reading, because I like the timer and the workout summary at the end of my workout. I still have not programmed my personal settings for max heart rate. I would recommend this product. Customer Rating: Summary: If this is the midsize, where is the small? Band way too large Comment: I'm a 5'9" small-framed athlete, and I could not wear this watch. There simply weren't enough holes in the band for it to sit flush on my wrist. Not to mention the strap is looooooooooooong. I mean, comically long. My 5'7" male trainer put it on and was on one of the first holes. If your wrist is remotely small, there will be a huge excess of strap hanging off the end, and due to the design, it would look wrong if cut off. I had to return it. Too bad - the face size is nice for a woman's small wrist, but with the seemingly dozen other holes in the band, I had to wonder - if you're using the outermost hole, well that would look ridiculous. The face would then look miniscule on that wrist. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Monitor Comment: This watch works great. My only issue is that I accidentally hit the stopwatch button and stop my workout time. The heart rate monitor is very accurate. I would buy this again. Customer Rating: Summary: Solid HR Monitor Comment: I have been using this HR monitor for about 11 months, and it's been fairly reliable; however, I did need to replace the chest strap device through Timex. The replacement has been working ever since. Of the three HR monitors I've had, this is the most reliable. I run about 30-40 miles a week, and I always wear it. I'm a database nerd, and I've been able to use the data from the watch to compile some useful information on my running progress.
High points:
- Calculates calories
- Easy menus and setup
- Gives me just enough information (one HR monitor I tried with GPS just had too many options).
- Review setting is nice
Low points:
- Occassionally it will "flip out" (instead of it being 144 or 148 it will sometimes go down to 118 or up to 184). This happens only every once in awhile.
- Display is only 2 lines. This is a smaller watch. 3 lines would be better so I'd be able to see my HR, total time, and split time.
I purchased the data recorder, but I don't use it anymore. The software is somewhat useless. It seems more suited to a fitness test that would be useful for a medical assessment.
If this watch had a 3-line display it would be perfect. As for the issues with the strap needing to be replaced, it seems like that's just how these things "work." I had a Nike model (junk) and another more expensive Timex (sent it back) that did not work as well as this model.
