Editorial Reviews:

Most bed pillows don't support the head and the neck. The Original McKenzie® Cervical Roll provides necessary support to the cervical structures and maintains a natural curve of the cervical spine while one sleeps on the side or back. If you suffer from frequent episodes of neck pain; referred pain in the shoulders; nighttime neck problems; or morning pain or stiffness in the neck, your sleeping position may be at fault. Placed between a pillow and the pillowcase, the cervical roll is designed to work with most conventional pillows. It is affordable and portable, and it is not hot and uncomfortable or snug around the neck like a cervical night collar. Made of low density foam with a removable and washable cotton/polyester cover. Size is 3 1/2" in diameter x 20" long. The roll must be used with a very soft pillow (ie; feathers. According to Dr. McKenzie molded rubber or foam pillows should never be used if you have neck problems. This item cannot be returned if the plastic seal is broken. Summary: for better sleep
Comment: On the advice of a Physical Therapist, I slept with a rolled up towel under my neck. After many months, I was dubious it was doing any good. I got the cervical neck roll support hoping it might work better, and I'm pleased to say it does!

First 3-5 nights were a bit uncomfortable (ended up tossing it at some point during my sleep). Since then, most mornings I wake up with the pillow in-place and I feel much less sore and tight in my neck and even areas of upper back feel less tense. I am a smaller person and the roll works perfectly with a low-fill down pillow.

Some mornings I do find I've moved it out during the night, but for however many hours I slept with it in-place the cervical roll still has lessened my muscle stiffness and tension significantly. The longer I've used the roll, the lighter and more relaxed my neck feels.

With the additional cervical support, it seems my sleep is deeper and more restful.

Summary: McKenzie Cervical Neck Roll Support
Comment: I would wake up with neck pain through the night. After 3-days I no longer had neck pain. It took me a week to get use to the roll, but I now get a full nights rest and my neck pain has not returned. My Physical Therapist recommends the Neck Roll and practices some of the techniques in McKenzie's book.

Summary: Simple Gets the Job Done
Comment: I work too many hours, dont get enough sleep and overall spend too many hours sitting in front of a computer screen. As a result, the headaches were all too frequent and the ache in my neck was pretty much constant. I just couldnt get comfortable (awake or asleep).

When I first opened the cervical roll I was disappointed becasue it looked so insignificant (i.e. small). I was so wrong though.

I followed directions and inserted into the pillowcase, which now has 2 "pillows"...(cervical roll and my regular pillow). The stretch in the pillowcase creates a tension of sorts, and it feels as though Im sleeping on a single pillow; one that now supports my neck in all the right places.

Using this has improved the quality of my sleep immeasurably. What a relief to wake up without that constant pain.

P.S.
I use a regular firm pillow and had been thinking about investing in a memory foam. I am so glad that I didnt!

Summary: Not bad, but not what I expected
Comment: I was trying to find a replacement for a pillow I had a few years back. Superficially the pillows look the same, but my pillow was much firmer. I still use this new pillow, but think it would be better if there was more/ a better description as to the firmness. It's a good product, though.

Summary: Surprisingly, it does the job
Comment: I used to use a tempurpedic memory foam pillow. It worked for a while to ease morning neck stiffness, but after a while, it didn't retain enough support to properly position my neck. At first, when i bought this, I thought it would have the same softness/degradation issues as the tempurpedic, but it doesn't! It's soft and unobstructive enough to feel like a soft bump in the pillow but I'm surprised that its firm enough to properly support my neck. I have not had any neck stiffness since I started using this roll in my pillow. And that goes for sleeping on both my back and side. I would recommend that you get this if you are a calm sleeper (i.e., don't move around a lot at night). Otherwise, the roll could shift around and actually be out of place relative to your neck, which could make things worse.
