Customer Rating: Summary: Great shoes, but the sizing is a little off & beware of the return policies Comment: I have owned three pairs of Keen shoes before I bought this model. In all cases, I've taken a size 11. Since I've never tried a pair of Keens that didn't fit I just assumed this time would be no different. I was wrong.
The size 11s were too big and felt like they were going to fall off my feet if I tried to run. So I sent them back to Backcountry for the additional cost of about $14. I figured the 10 1/2 would fit. So I went to Zappos and ordered from them since I could get them delivered in about 36 hours and I could return them at no extra charge. These were too tight!
I'm not sure what the problem is, but it looks as if I can forget buying this specific model because they just don't fit.
For many years I've worn a pair of Salomon Snowclogs. They fit perfectly - size 11 - and kept my feet warm even on very cold days. But they wore out and I got tired of how they looked and I wanted to get Keens. No can do. IME, when it comes to winter slip-ons, the Salomons might not have looked very good, but they're the best shoes I've found so far.
The Whistler uses a slightly heavier tread than any of the other Keens I've used. Maybe there are some other differences as well. My advice is to not assume that just because you've worn size x Keen shoes before that these will fit you as well. You'll need to try them on first somehow . . . or purchase from a vendor that offers free return shipping. I had to learn that lesson the hard way.
If you find that they fit fine then you won't be disappointed. The Whistlers are solidly built, are very comfortable (like all Keen shoes) and look as if they'll last longer than other Keens because of the heavier tread. I know that if they had fit I would I have kept them.
