Why settle for anything less than a Walkman? Slim and lightweight, the WM-FX290 is compact enough to fit in your shirt pocket, but that doesn't stop it from boasting a host of great features. One "AA" battery is enough to power it for up to 35 hours, and the tuner includes FM, AM, and weather bands. It has 40 station presets, and digital auto preset scanning. Includes Mega Bass(R) Sound System and a digital LCD Display. Plus, you get some great accessories, like MDR-023 stereo headphones and a carry case with belt clip. For mobile music on a more traditional slant, the Sony WM-FX290W offers more than you expect and lives up to the Walkman(R) brand of excellence. Battery Level Indicator on LCD provides visible indication of battery power Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS) automatically adjusts music passages that vary widely, for improved listener comfort and clear sound FM Local/Distant (DX) Switch provides optimal reception of both near and distant stations Digital LCD Screen indicates radio station frequency, preset status and cassette operation Carry Case with Belt Clip lets you conveniently wear your Walkman(R) unit while walking or during other activities

Customer Rating: Summary: TV channels a plus, but lousy durability Comment: While I liked this product shortly after I got it, the battery door was flimsy enough not to last long. Now I can't get it to stay shut with the battery in it.
The use of only one AA battery instead of 2 is a plus if you are using NiMH batteries, but a minus if you are using other rechargeables -- the batteries won't last long.
I'm currently shopping for a player by a different brand, but a cheapo $9 Jensen one I got was even worse (actually far worse) than this.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cassette Player Comment: Sound is good, but the carrying case is pretty flimsey and difficult to change tapes when out for a jog. Sony quality on sound, though.
Customer Rating: Summary: not a bad deal Comment: well, as you may well know, not every stor carries cassette players, it is fortunate for us to have a place and get this product. As the quality, I can not complain about it. just take good care of it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sony Portable Cassette player Comment: I find this to be a wonderful product. It is lightweight, comes with a carrying case, headphones with quality sound at an afforable price.
I owned an older model (similar to this product) and was happy to find the quality is not only as good but better than the older Sony Walkman I replaced this one with. It is good to know Sony has maintained the quality of this product I would reccommend this cassette player without hesitation.
Customer Rating: Summary: So thrilled! Comment: I just used my Sony Walkman Radio/Cassette player and am so thrilled!
What a great product! The quality is so nice; the headphones just perfect for me and the case that came with it fit snuggly on my sweats while I jogged on the treadmill.
I was so happy to dig out some old cassettes I haven't listened to in 15 years and had so much fun remembering the songs and singing at the top of my lungs! (I'm sure the neighbors appreciated it - LOL)
Thanks, Sony, for bringing back the memories of songs and times and places and for getting me back into walking again!
The only thing I might wish it had is an auto-reverse to play the other side of the tape, but maybe not since that is what broke on my last cassette player (which was an Emerson).
I love it so much I'll be ordering another one just in case this one gets discontinued or something - hopefully not ever!
