When they were teens, Kyle and Jake had special feelings for each other, but small-town life was too inhibiting for them to express their emotions. One boy moved away, while the other stayed behind without his best friend. Twenty-one years later, neither man's life has turned out the way he planned. Jake hoped to make it big in the city, but finds business unfulfilling. Kyle hoped to go to college, but stayed home to care for his ailing mom, tend the horses and work the diner. One day, Jake takes a vacation back to the desert to spend a few days with his long-lost buddy. To both men's surprise, old emotions are rekindled, but this time, with the help of family, they are about to find out how they can be happy once again---under the Arizona Sky.

Customer Rating: Summary: overwrought in the desert Comment: The captions aren't readable as you fast-forward through this cringe-inducing mess, and believe me you will want to fast-forward or just hit Eject.
There's a commentary track that I decided to skip entirely. I imagine that the director explains that the tall actor with the pretty eyes is straight, which would explain the total lack of chemistry and the unsexy little smooches that he exchanges with the other lead.
Thanks to Netflix, I only wasted a queue rental and 45 minutes of my time.
Customer Rating: Summary: Strong Story, Great Actors, a little flat in execution Comment: First off, I loved this story. Great idea, some very good writing, and two actors who are clearly both skilled in their craft and who worked hard to execute the story's goals. It also shines in the slow, methodical way it develops, and the time the writer/director is willing to take to let ideas and interactions develop. Moving and heart-felt.
That being said, the film needed a little more editing, and perhaps a couple of scenes needed more time to gel/come together. Sometimes the actors are spot-on, and sometimes the scenes feel rough-hewn - like they needed more time to hit the right tone/cadence.
Definitely a B+, and a keeper. Looking forward to the next work by this writer/director. And off to look for other work by both actors.
Customer Rating: Summary: what a waste of money. Comment: I wish it were possible to view this film before purchase. It's only redeeming scenes were of the young boys. The rest of the film was painful to sit through. The scenes between the two main characters looked like they were constipated, so poor, we laughed. Obviously a low budget film, small things were so blatantly missing..when the cousin punches the main character after finding out he is gay... no sound. Little things like that.
Too bad I can't send this one back. Save your money.
Customer Rating: Summary: You'll be sorry... Comment: Great cover, but the acting and filming was so "painful". This must be someone's first film. I feel really let down considering the DVD carried an "Official Selection" logo. Thank goodness the DVD was on sale! Don't buy it for more than $5.00! Or better yet, I'll send you my copy free!
Customer Rating: Summary: Very disappointing Comment: The chemistry between the teenage actors portraying Jake and Kyle at the beginning of the film was very promising, and the film began with great possibilities. That said, the rest of the film was a complete failure. For one thing the director and cinematographer could have done better with the audio. The writing was also very poor. It seemed as if when a sentimental conversation was going on music was added suddenly as an afterthought. The film was too short and spent too much time with pointless interchanges between the adult Jake and his straight friend from the city and another one with a poor lady and Jake at his hometown. The scene in which Kyle's cousin uncovers Kyle and Jake in bed was the final disappointment that made the movie a bomb. Precious little time was spent developing the main relationship. Pinpointing a major flaw was in the verisimilitude or believability of the story, footage from the small Arizona town or Los Angeles could have fleshed out the story, and Jake's life in the city as a filmmaker was not believable: why not shoot a scene in a movie studio? I looked forward to this film with high hopes, but I was left wondering why I spent the money to buy this DVD.
